Erin Carden is a graduate of Bard College and she has been living in San Francisco since December 2015. What’s it like to live there? I got the chance to ask Erin and find out!

Where I Am Now

I first came to San Francisco in the fall of 2013, after graduating from college. I landed a job as a research associate at a tech startup and quickly learned that the city was full of adventure and opportunity. I quickly became enamored with everything about the city – its people, its culture, and its food.

I soon realized that being in San Francisco was what I was meant to do. I started participating in local events, meeting new people, and starting my own businesses. And now, four years later, I’m still here – still working hard, still loving life. Here’s to continuing my journey in this amazing city!

My Background

Erin Carden is originally from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. After graduating from college, she moved to San Francisco in 2013 and started working as a web developer. Erin loves living in the Bay Area because of its diversity and the opportunity to experience new cultures. She also enjoys hiking and kayaking in the nearby mountains.

Why I Entered the Chronicle

I originally moved to San Francisco in search of a creative community. While I did find that, it was not the only thing I was looking for. I also found myself in a city full of opportunity, with people who are passionate about their work and supportive of others. This is what ultimately drew me to stay.

When I first arrived in San Francisco, I was working as a waitress. It wasn’t the best job, but it afforded me the opportunity to live cheaply and explore the city. I soon found myself working at two restaurants that were important to my artistic community – one was run by a chef who inspired me to start cooking, and the other was a bakery that taught me how to bake bread.

Through these jobs, I met people from all walks of life and began to see how much potential exists here for growth. This is why I decided to stay – not just because of the opportunities available, but also because of the supportive community that exists here.

Carden has now been with the publication for over a year and enjoys learning about the city’s unique politics and culture. \”San Francisco is such an open-minded city that it’s fascinating to see how things work here,\” she says.

In addition to her journalism work, Carden also volunteers with a grassroots group called Indivisible SF that is fighting for progressive policies in the city. She says that she loves being part of a community that is fighting for change.

\”I hope that my experiences can help others who are thinking about moving to San Francisco or any other big city,\” Carden says. \”There’
